Crazy for "Food in a Jar"

Made these yesterday for breakfast with scrambled cheese eggs and they were a BIG HIT, not to mention them being so darn cute! I found an entire website on serving foods in little (individual sized) jars and can't wait to try more!

Monkey Bread in a Jar

You will need:

4- 8 oz. clean mason jars

1 can biscuits

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

Spray jars well with cooking spray. Divide rolls into quarters; roll into balls and coat in sugars/cinnamon mixture. Place dough balls in jars and sprinkle a little extra sugars/cinnamon mixture between each layer. Fill to about 3/4 (so they don't rise and overflow). Bake at 350 for 20 minutesish. Makes 4 cute as heck servings!

Ancestor Essay District Winner: Brinley White!

When Brinley wrote an essay about her ancestor, Frances Goddard, for a required 4th grade assigment she never dreamed she would go this far. This assignment is given to all 4th and 5th grade students in the Iron County School District by the Sons of the Utah Pioneers organization as an essay contest every year. First place winners are selected from each school with one "Grand Prize" winner out of the entire district. What an honor for her and for our family!

As a mom (and her teacher) I was so excited on the last day of school for the "end of the year awards assembly", because I was aware that she had won, but she had no clue. She was thrilled and surprised when they announced her name as the school 1st place winner, but almost died when she was also announced as the "Grand Champion". Mr. Bonzo (famous former Cedar High teacher) read her paper to the student body and awarded her with 60, one dollar gold coins! What a fun day!!! She was also invited as the guest of honor to the Sons of the Utah Pioneers 24 of July Awards showcase at the Rock Church on the morning of July 24th.

Brinley got the red carpet treatment at the awards ceremony. Mr. Bonzo gave her a kiss on the cheak and asked if she'd spent all of her prize $$ on her new yellow dress.

What a fun day for our whole family!

Brinley and her Grandma Linda. Brinley gets her writing talents from her gram. They have such a special relationship and are very close.

Brinley with her great Grandma and Grandpa Rowley. They are such a good example to our family and are always so supportive of our children.

Gleave Reunion and Kolby's 8th Birthday 2010

Kolby Preston White ready to open his present from grandma Linda. He got a fishing pole to fish with at Pine Lake. He was so excited to celebrate his 8th birthday at the Gleave Reunion!

Kolby and his new birthday bike on Thursday, July 8th, 2010. We had to give it to him early, so he could ride it for a minute before we left for camp.

How many guys get to wake up in a camp trailer on their birthday? Kolby got to open presents in the 5th wheel and spend his 8th birthday in beautiful Pine Lake. Happy Birthday to my beautiful, green eyed boy! You bring us so much joy and happiness! We couldn't imagine our lives without you! We love you Kolby!

Had to snap a picture of these hands because they reminded me so much of my dad's hands. My dad's hands were huge like these. I loved playing with his hands at church. I was always so fascinated by my dad's big, strong hands. These are my Uncle Charlie's hands (my dad's older brother). Though dad is gone I can still find him places when I pay attention!!!
