The most wonderfully busy time of the year!

So much to blog about..... so little time! I love the holidays, but they sure keep you hoping with so many fun things to do! Here are a few memories we have made this season...

Every fall the kids play in the anual violin concert through SUU. This is where they take their group lessons and have some of the most amazing instructors ever! At the end of November we went to the Heritage center to watch their performance. When you hear over 100 violins, violas, cellos, etc. all playing at once and all being played by children the music is breath taking! Here is Kache getting all tuned up to go.

Our family at the concert

Our kids with Grandma and Grandpa White. Thanks for coming and being so supportive! That was a fun night!

Brinley getting in one last practice before she goes on stage!

Our kids with Grandma Linda and Cordell after the concert. Grandma plays accompaniment on piano for Kache and Brin to practice each day! Thank you so much for helping them develop this talent mom! You are the best!

Say CHEESE violin chick!

December is a month of performances! Brinley and Brecklyn performed at the CVHS Talon craft fair and then at their Christmas recital on Dec. 18th. They did a great job and are so fun to watch!

Me and Brin with Sylvia and Brecklyn after they did their lyrical at the craft fair. There costumes had not come in yet.

K0lby, Brin and Kache covered from head to toe in icing after decorating our gingerbread house. This is a tradition that we do every year. I seem to forget how messy this is just in time to do it again the next year!

Cowboy Kolby had to have a horse and a coral of course so he and Kache made one out of pretzels.

Our gingerbread cottage from the ghetto! Maybe we should have bought a kit!

Another view!

Side view of the "frosted mini wheat" shingles and log "pretzel" siding put on by daddy!

We have a tradition that was started when my dad was a little boy by a sweet little Christmas elf! Each year twelve days before christmas dad and his sibblings would wake to find a small treat/toy in their stockings . This was passed down to my family and some of my favorite Christmas memories are those of the elf visiting before Christmas. It always got us so darn excited we could hardly stand it! We got everything from an orange to even underwear sometimes! The treats/gifts were small and simple and got us up earlier than early on these highly anticipated days! Now my children LOVE the elf to come! They could hardly wait until the 12th this year. Brinley wrote a not asking the elf what his name is. He wrote back telling us his name is "Rascal". The kids have had so much fun peeking in their stockings to find a little something special. The great thing for parents is that if the kids are being naughty the elf skips a day, so their behavior is super "top notch" and they do anything they are asked! It's great! My students even made stockings at school and had elf visits at the Elementary! It was so much fun! Here is a picture of Brinley and Kolby with giant Christmas pencils they got from the elf this year! THANKS RASCAL!

Ok that elf idea is the Best. I wish I had known about it years ago. The demons come out in my children around Christmas time. It drives me crazy. And your gingerbread house is so cute. I can't believe you made it from scratch. You are very talented!!!

Your kids are so talented! You need to put on a video of them playing the violins! Your gingerbread house tops all I've seen - love the shingles (we are going to copy that) and I am now going to have to ask Santa to send Rascal to our house! What a great idea!
