Preston, Kallie, Kache, Kolby and Brin with the 4 point Preston shot this year "out west". If I give you any more details as to where this deer was killed I would most certainly be shot by my brothers!
Okay so I know I am posting the deer hunt pics a little late, but better late than never, right??? Deer hunt used to be as big as Christmas at the Brindley house. Dad took off work and we got to leave school early and spend a 3 day weekend in some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen. Atleast it was to me, maybe because of all the happy memories I have of being in the "hills" with my family. I remember hoping into the old orange ford or maybe the blazer at the "butt crack" of dawn, pockets full of granola bars, sugar daddys and peanutbutter rice crispies to keep us from starving until we got back to camp. We would drive slowly up to where ever it was we were going. Usually to the base of flat top or maybe over center creek ridge. We would drive like mad if we saw other head lights so we could beat the "prunnies" to the deer (dad called them something worse). We would walk our butts off in the freezing wind trying to push the deer to come out of hiding. I remember when I was 14 I walked so hard that I came back to camp and slept for 4 hours. Mom always stayed back at camp and had a late breakfast ready for us when we got back. Sometimes we were lucky; most of the time we weren't but we still had more fun than you can imagine!

Unfortunatly things change and hunting has been no exception. The deer population isn't what it used to be and dad is gone now. We still love to hunt but don't always do it like we used to. This year we were not able to camp so we drove out for an afternoon after church. When we got there Ryan and Brett had spotted this nice little 4 point that was WAY to small for either of them to consider. (Their's must have 30 points on each side or be a doe to qualify J/K). Getting this buck was to easy. We pulled up in the truck, Preston got out and shot it! I must say he made a really nice shot at about 350 yards and hadn't even bothered to sight his gun in! I got him a 300 Winmag for Christmas a few years back and that is what he used. The kids were so proud to see their daddy shoot a deer! After we gutted it mom helped us drag it to the truck. We threw it in and dropped it off at the meet shop on the way home! Now we have lots of yummy jerky in the fridge. I can't eat venison any other way. It smells to much like the guts. Sorry if I just made you sick!

Well it's about time you posted!! j/k. Have you found anywhere that will print your blog yet???
Fun post to read, but I think I just went pale! Maybe that's why I won't eat venison...YUCK!!! Everytime I hear "guts" I think of the video Ryan has of you dancing around in them after the deer were gutted one deer hunt.
I remember when Ryan shot the 'big one' that was hanging up in your house. We kept asking him where he shot it at and he would not tell. No matter how hard we tried to get it out of him. What fun memories. I went private on my blog, but I don't have your email address to send you an invite. If you would like one, the email me at robyne_74@hotmail.com . Have a great christmas.
I used to love venison, but cant stand the smell anymore! But that jerky they make is good! HINT HINT!
Way to go preston!! Loved the deer hunting memories. I can't remember the last time I had deer jerkey. It's been to long for sure!!!
Nice buck! Mike is just like you, he can't really eat the meat from animals that he has killed. He says he can smell/taste there blood no matter how much you cook it. Probably why we never go hunting. I sure miss those days however when dad was alive. Deer Hunt and Easter were my favorite Holidays I always used to say when I was little. Camping with the fam is the best fun there is!
