Thank goodness Halloween was on a Friday this year! It was fun to take the kids out and not have to worry about the 8:00pm weeknight bedtime! Sundee picked us up in in her Ranger and off we went! Brinley and Kolby were my only trick-or-treat kids this year because Kache was at a baseball tourney in Nevada. I know baseball on Halloween???? Not my idea of fun , but he hit his first "home run" in a game and pitched really well so he could care less about the candy!
Kolby was a mighty hunter!

Brinley was Hannah Montana!

Kache was just plain weird! This is as close as he got to dressing up!

I guess you could say here that the hunter had heard enough "Hannah Montana" music for one day. (I know how he feels)
Hey hunter boy, do you have a tag for miss Miley???
"Spook"tacular Treats!
I don't know why these are sideways but they tasted really good! It is tradition to make homemade caramel apples at our house each year. Can you say YUM!

Homemade Caramel Apple Caramel
2 Cups Sugar
1/4 Cup Margarine or butter
2 Cups Karo Syrup
1 pinch Salt
1 Can sweetened condensed milk
Cook sugar, margarine, karo and salt until dissolved. Add sweetened condensed milk and cook gently until 244 degrees. Immediately dip apples into caramel. From here you can do anything! I like to dip them in chocolate (white or milk) then crushed butterfinger, crushed oreo, chopped cashews or peanuts are super good! To make them cute you can drizzle tops with chocolate ( melt it, put it in a plastic bag and snip the corner)etc. Place dipped apples on greased wax paper. Yield: about 20 small apples.

What would Halloween be without a few totally warped treats??? These are a must every year too! They look so real! Don't worry, the finger nail is just an almond painted with red food coloring! Enjoy!

Severed Fingers
2 Tbs red food coloring
30 almonds
2 large eggs
1/4 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup powdered sugar
5 Tbs. Granulated sugar
pinch of salt
1 2/3 cups flour
-Place food coloring in a shallow bowl. Using a small paint brush, color one rounded half of each almond (fingernail polish). Set aside to dry. Separate 1 egg. Set aside the white. In a small bowl, whisk together yolk, remaining egg, and vanilla. Set aside.
-In an electric mixer combine butter, powdered sugar, granulated sugar, and salt. Beat on medium speed until well combined. Add egg mixture, and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add the flour, and mix on low speed just until incorporated. Wrap the dough in plastic and chill until firm, about 30 minutes.
-Divide dough in half. Work with one piece at a time, keeping remaining dough covered with plastic wrap and chilled. Divide the first half into fifteen pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece back and forth until it looks like a worm. Pinch dough in two places to form a knuckle. Score each knuckle with the back of a small knife to make the knuckle lines.
Transfer fingers to well greased cookie sheets or silpats. When all fingers are formed brush lightly with egg white. Position almond finger nail and push into dough to attach. Bake at 350 until lightly browned, about 12 minutes.
NOTE: For best results, when rolling the fingers make them skinnier than a regular finger because they fill out as they bake. To serve the fingers I place them standing up in an earn or creepy Halloween bowl full of black beans (to hold them up). They look very real.

Saturday we drove down to Nevada for more B-ball! Grandma Cheryl and Grandma and Grandpa Rowley came to watch Kache play. It was so fun to see them! Thanks for supporting Kache. He was thrilled! Brinley stayed home with Gran. We sure missed our girl!
Fusion Rocks!Kolby tickling his neck with a crab leg! Yes, his table manners in public are top notch don't ya think? You make us proud son!

A bunch of hungry baseball players looking to get kicked out of the buffet!

The perfect ending to another rowdy weekend. Being the bat boy is a tough job and can really wear a little guy out! Kolby is snuggled up on our bed fast asleep using my sweater for a blankie! How sweet is he???

KAMI!!!!!! Hello stranger. It's your long lost roommate from College Ave at SUU! Totally random how I found your Blog. I'll have to explain another time.
Anyway, cute family! Beautiful little girl, she looks like you - actually, she reminds me of how I remember the twins looking when they would come to our apartment to visit.
I almost named my daughter Brynlee (spelled like that). In fact, we called her that until the day she was born.
Cute cute family. Hope you don't mind I left a comment on you blog. Thought that would be better than just spying. ;-)
Email me at: ejrowsell@yahoo.com We need to catch up!

I got the email about the reunion, thanks! Why were we on the "lost" list? We won't be able to go to the reunion, we will be in California with Ray's family, it's been planned for a while now.
We will have to get together over Thanksgiving. Suzette is coming too. Our stay is going to be short sadly.
What a fun weekend. Your recipes are darling and look yummy. Congrats on the home run kache! Cute costumes brin and kolby. Keylee says hi. Love you guys!
