Grandma Irva's 90th Birthday!

Grandma Irva celebrated her 90th Birthday on January 23rd. She is my dad's mother and has outlived 2 of her 4 children. We had the best day ever! It was so fun visiting with her and all of my dad's family. Just wish he could have been there too.

I was close to all of my cousins growing up and have many memories of deer hunts, Memorial day weekends, Easters at Zion, and Thanksgivings in Grandma's garage spent with all of my cousins. We usually slept somewhere on the living room floor and would get woke up at the crack of dawn to the noisy sounds of Grandpa Pete rattling around in the kitchen getting his coffee. He always offered us a cup knowing that we were taught that coffee was of the devil. Now I wish I would have accepted a cup just to see what he would have done! Grandma always made giant delicious breakfasts of eggs, bacon, fried potatoes with grandma's pickle relish, toast with her homemade jam or biscuits with her milk gravy and of course soda pop. That was the only place in the world we were aloud to have pop for breakfast! It was a loving place with everyone welcome at anytime day or night. You never left hungry. I miss those days, but realize that time has changed things. So on the rare occasion that I do get to spend the day with my extended family on my dad's side I treasure each moment. I am so thankful that my Grandma Irva is still here. I love her very much.
